Volunteering for humanitarian work

By: Ahmed Salah

Before I begin, I must tell you that I was one of the few people who started volunteering for humanitarian work before I knew how it is described and the different forms of it, now of course I have experienced how it really is I can tell you that the way it is described in the internet gives the impression that it is just the same as every other office job, while I found that it is different, in the sense that it is more humane and even though there is no payment, you feel the sense of accomplishment and pleasure that comes from helping other people in need, whether by working with the Media, to put these people in the spotlights or donating small amounts to the stakeholders which add up to the donations of other people.

First of all, my name is Ahmed Salah, I am 15 years old and I have been volunteering with Moomken org for the past two month, helping with various different tasks, including working as an HR officer, dealing with employee requests and editing policies, accompanied with filling the employees data and general filing. I have also worked in the Media department as a video editor and currently a blogger. This blog is also part of the tasks I have been assigned and all of these tasks were relatively new to me, as a matter of fact this is the first time, I have ever written a blog.

In the simplest of forms, I can tell you, that volunteering for humanitarian work is offering to do hard work to help make the lives of other humans in need of assistance better and human friendly.

Your volunteering included with the volunteering of million others is the most crucial recourse of humanitarian workers and is often over looked by the majorities. The world is in need of volunteers and your volunteering would make a huge difference in the bigger picture.

Yes, volunteering means you won’t get paid but that doesn’t mean you won’t benefit from it. As a result to your volunteering and depending on what kind of things you did you are going to get the ability to think clearly under pressure and be able to think critically, you will also learn how to be more efficient while organizing things in your daily life, and you will learn how to interact with other people in various different situations.

Approximately 803,000 individuals are in need of humanitarian assistance across Libya in 2022, due to political conflict and ongoing safety breaches, people are on the move with humanitarian campaigns to increase awareness over the matter. As a result, the number of volunteers has increased and due to that, the number of people in need of humanitarian assistance is steadily going down.
