Overview

The Libyan Youth Charter Project aims to develop a national document that reflects the aspirations and voices of Libyan youth from across the country.
The project was launched following the official approval of the “Youth Leading Peace” initiative by the Minister of Youth, leading to the formation of a committee composed of eight members representing:

  • The Ministry of Youth
  • Moomken Organization
  • The Student Center

This committee was tasked with preparing and drafting the Libyan Youth Charter through participatory and interactive dialogues with youth.

Main Activities:

  • Conducted dialogue and listening sessions with youth in various Libyan cities.
  • Reviewed and incorporated participant feedback into the development of the final draft.
  • Monitored the work of the drafting committee and addressed organizational and communication challenges.
  • Planned to expand outreach to include youth centers and universities.

Completed

Objective:

To develop a national charter for Libyan youth that genuinely expresses their visions, aspirations, and challenges, through an inclusive process that fosters community dialogue and reflects Libya’s diverse contexts.

Key Results:

  • Organized nine dialogue sessions across multiple Libyan cities.
  • Provided interactive platforms for youth to express their opinions on the draft charter.
  • Expanded youth engagement to include a broader base of university students.
  • Identified communication challenges within the drafting committee that impacted project progress and were acknowledged as a major obstacle.
