Overview:
This project aimed to enhance the capacities of civil society organizations (CSOs) across Libya to enable more effective participation in the democratic process and to support human rights and democracy-focused initiatives nationwide.
Objective:
To strengthen Libyan CSOs by building their institutional capacities, raising awareness, and empowering them to take active roles in promoting democracy and human rights at the local and national levels.
Key Results:
- Produced a clear picture of the civil society landscape through detailed mapping and assessment.
- Trained and empowered a number of local CSOs with advanced knowledge and practical tools.
- Supported the implementation of community-based activities promoting human rights and democratic participation in various Libyan regions.
Main Activities:
- Conducted a comprehensive mapping exercise of CSOs in Libya to assess strengths and challenges in various regions.
- Designed and implemented a Training of Trainers (TOT) program that included educational videos, toolkits, and in-person workshops led by Libyan experts using updated training materials.
- Enabled local CSOs to design and carry out grassroots initiatives focused on human rights and democratic engagement.
